Definition
Desviar-se de um caminho principal, tanto no sentido físico (estrada, rio) quanto no sentido figurado (assunto, conversa).

Usado com estradas, rios ou assuntos de conversa, tanto literal quanto figuradamente. Comum em expressões como 'the road branches off'. Não costuma ser usado com pessoas de forma direta.
