'Lyric' as a noun most commonly refers to the words in a song (usually used in plural: 'lyrics'). As an adjective, 'lyric' describes poetry or writing that is emotional or expressive. Not to be confused with 'melody' (the tune). Say 'the lyrics of a song,' not 'the lyrics of a poem.'
