A puzzle in which you fill in a grid with words, where the answers to numbered clues fit both across and down.
Usage & Nuances
Usually called 'crossword puzzle.' Common in newspapers and apps. Collocates with 'do,' 'solve,' 'complete' ('do a crossword'). Not to be confused with 'word search,' which does not use clues.
