他の人より注目を集めて、結果的に他の人が目立たなくなること。特に舞台や集団の場面で使う。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に舞台や集団で使用。自分本位な印象があり、ほかの人の目立つ機会を奪う時に使う。'upstaging the lead'は主役を食う意味。'upstage'（舞台奥）とは別の意味。
