誰かを混乱させたり、誤った手がかりを与えて、自分の行動や居場所を見破られないようにすること。追跡や調査を逃れる場合によく使う表現。

主に物語やサスペンスで使われ、'誰かの追跡をまく'という意味で使う。実際に何かを投げる意味ではなく、うまくごまかした時に使う表現です。
