言葉や文章で明示されずに、自然と理解されたり同意されたりすること。暗黙のうちに伝わるニュアンス。

「tacit」はビジネスや法律などやや堅い場面で使われることが多く、会話よりも文章で見かけます。「tacit agreement」や「tacit approval」などの形で使われます。「explicit」（明示的）の反対語。

There was a tacit understanding between them.
