何かの周りや空中で渦を巻くように動くこと。また、考えや噂が素早く何度も広がることも指す。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に物理的な動き（ほこり、水、葉など）だけでなく、考えや噂の広がりにも使われる表現。'rumors swirl around'などでよく使う。フォーマル・カジュアル両方で使える。
