Definition

誰かや何かを腕や物で素早く振りかぶって、当てようとする動作。主にスポーツやケンカの場面で使う。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

野球やボクシングなどのスポーツ、または喧嘩でよく使う表現。「swing at the ball」や「swing at someone」のように対象を続けて使う。日常の普通の活動にはあまり使わない。

He tried to swing at the ball but missed.
