Começar algo, geralmente uma conversa, amizade ou música. Muito usado para quando você inicia um papo com alguém ou começa a tocar música.

Geralmente informal. Comum em 'strike up a conversation' (iniciar conversa) e 'strike up a friendship' (fazer amizade). Indica que a pessoa tomou iniciativa. Não é usada para ação física.
