ぬれた地面を歩くときのぐちゃぐちゃという音、または意見や声などを力で抑え込むこと。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
湿った場所で靴が立てる音によく使われます。比喩的に「squelching dissent（反対意見を抑える）」のようなフォーマルな場面で使われ、日常会話ではあまり使われません。
