突然力強くつかんだり、権限や法律に基づいて取り上げること。チャンスを逃さず活かす意味もある。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

公的機関や報道でよく使われます（「麻薬を押収する」「チャンスをつかむ」など）。優しくゆっくり取る場合は使いません。「cease（やめる）」と混同しないように注意。
