いつもある快適さがなく、簡素で不便な状況でしばらく生活すること。

カジュアルな表現で、キャンプや旅行、一時的に不便な状況について使う。本格的な苦労や貧困ではなく、期間限定の意味が強い。「have to」「will」「Can you rough it?」と一緒に使われることが多い。

We had to rough it without electricity for a week.
