リングサイド席は、特にボクシングなどで試合のすぐそばにある席のことです。転じて、出来事をとても近くから見られる特別な立場を指すこともあります。

もともとボクシングなどの格闘技で使われますが、最近では比喩的に「特等席」や「間近で見られる機会」という意味でもよく使います。“a ringside seat to〜”の形で重要な出来事を間近で体験する感じになります。
