Definition

今は誘いに応じられないけど、また別の機会にぜひ、という丁寧な表現。もともとは雨天で延期になったイベント用の再入場券のこと。

カジュアルな場面でよく使われ、「また今度お願いします」「今日は無理だけど次回ぜひ」などの意味で使われる。直訳の意味はほとんど使われない。

Sorry, I have to take a raincheck on dinner tonight.

ごめん、今夜の食事は**また今度**にさせてください。

Can I get a raincheck and join you next time?

**また今度**でもいいですか？次回一緒に参加したいです。

He offered me a raincheck for the concert since it was canceled.
