「Proofing」是指在正式完成前仔細檢查文件等，找出錯誤。在烘焙中，也指讓麵團發酵膨脹的過程。

在校對文稿時，'proofing' 常用作 'proofreading'（包含拼寫和文法檢查）。烘焙時 'proofing' 只指麵團發酵，和“測試”不同。'proofing box'是指發酵箱。
