本や書類などを長時間かけて、非常に注意深く読むことや調べること。

フォーマルや書き言葉で使われやすい表現です。主に本や資料など細かいものに使います。'pour over'（液体をかける）とは混同しないように。構造は『pore over + 対象』です。
