"make the cut" in Korean

선발되다기준을 통과하다

Definition

팀, 대회 등에서 정해진 기준을 충족하여 선발되는 것.

주로 오디션, 팀 선발, 입사 등에서 비공식적으로 사용함. 'make a cut' (물리적으로 자르다)와는 다름. 'Didn't make the cut'은 탈락했다는 뜻.

Only five players will make the cut for the final team.

최종 팀에 **선발되는** 선수는 다섯 명뿐이다.

She practiced hard, but she didn't make the cut.

그녀는 열심히 연습했지만 **선발되지** 못했다.
