Bir ülkeye yeni gelmiş ya da deneyimsiz ve saf birini tanımlayan samimi bir deyimdir. Aslen gemiyle gelen göçmenler için kullanılırdı.

Çok samimi ve biraz eski bir deyimdir. Göçmenler için kullanıldığında kaba olabilir; dikkatli kullanılmalı. Genellikle tecrübesizlik ima eder. 'green' veya 'fresh off the boat' ile benzerdir.
