本気ではなく、冗談で物事を言ったりしたりすること。

発言や行動が真剣でなく、ふざけていることを示す。『言う』や『聞く』などの動詞とよく一緒に使う。『joking』（ふざけている最中）とは異なる。

He jokingly called himself the best cook in the world.
