Definition

「in play」は、何かが現在進行中、利用可能、または影響を及ぼしている状態を表します。スポーツではボールが動いている時にも使われます。

スポーツで特によく使われ（「the ball is in play」など）、また選択肢や影響要因にも使います。人にはほぼ使いません。

The ball is still in play.

ボールはまだ**プレー中**です。

Many factors are in play here.

ここでは多くの要因が**作用中**です。

The rule is no longer in play.
