何かに備えて心や物をしっかり準備すること。必要な道具を揃える場合も含まれる。

カジュアルな場面で多く使われ、特別な準備や道具が必要な時「gear up」を使う。単なる「get ready」より、念入りな準備のニュアンスが強い。
