Quitar un líquido lentamente de algo, generalmente dejándolo fluir. Se usa frecuentemente para eliminar agua u otros líquidos de recipientes, alimentos, tierra o tuberías.

"Drain off" se usa principalmente para líquidos que salen lentamente de algo, a menudo en estructuras pasivas ("the water drained off"). Es común en la cocina ('drain off the oil'), fontanería o ingeniería. No debe usarse para flujos rápidos ("pour out") ni en sentidos abstractos. No confundir con 'dry off' (secar).
