Definition
Remover um líquido lentamente de algo, geralmente deixando-o escorrer. Usado frequentemente para retirar água ou outros líquidos de recipientes, alimentos, terrenos ou tubagens.

"Drain off" usa-se sobretudo com líquidos a sair lentamente de algo, frequentemente em estruturas passivas ("the water drained off"). Muito usado em culinária ('drain off the oil'), canalização ou engenharia. Não se usa para fluxos rápidos ("pour out") nem sentidos abstratos. Não confundir com 'dry off' (secar).
