Definition
Remover um líquido lentamente de algo, geralmente deixando-o escoar. Muitas vezes usado para retirar água ou outros líquidos de recipientes, alimentos, terrenos ou tubulações.

"Drain off" é usado principalmente para líquidos saindo lentamente de algo, geralmente em frases passivas ("the water drained off"). Comum na cozinha ('drain off the oil'), encanamento e engenharia. Não usado para fluxos rápidos ("pour out") ou significados abstratos. Não confundir com 'dry off' (ficar seco).
