より低い場所やレベルから動いたり、起源を持つこと。字義どおり（実際に下から来る場合）や比喩的（低い立場や謙虚な出自から来る場合）にも使います。

普通は音や物、人が実際に下から来る時に使います。まれに比喩的にも使えますが、決まったイディオムではありません。「昇進する」や「成長する」という意味とは異なります。
