結束とは、複数の部分がひとつにまとまって一体感を持つことです。グループや考え方、物質などに使われます。

主に学術的・専門的な場面で使われます。「team cohesion」「social cohesion」「textual cohesion」などの表現があります。「coherence」（論理的なつながり）とは異なり、結束や一体感に重点を置きます。
