Definition

अगर कोई हिचकिचा रहा है, तो वह अचानक कुछ करने या आगे बढ़ने को तैयार नहीं होता है। इसका अर्थ यह भी हो सकता है कि वह किसी चीज़ को मानने से इनकार कर रहा है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

अधिकतर औपचारिक या लिखित संदर्भों में प्रयोग होता है; व्यक्ति या जानवर किसी कार्य पर हिचकिचाते हैं ('balking at a request')। प्रायः 'at' के साथ आता है: 'balking at the idea'। 'baking' (बेक करना) से न मिलाएँ।
