Definition

إذا كان شخص ما يتردد، فهو فجأة لا يرغب في القيام بشيء ما أو يتوقف عن الاستمرار. يمكن أن تعني أيضاً أنه يرفض قبول شيء ما.

Usage Notes (Arabic)

غالباً ما يُستخدم في السياق الرسمي أو المكتوب، ويصف تردد الأشخاص أو الحيوانات حيال عمل معين ('balking at a request'). يتكرر مع 'at': 'balking at the idea'. لا تخلط مع 'baking' (الخبز).
