二つの物事が『相違している』とは、特に意見や考え、事実において互いに一致せず、対立していることです。

『at variance』はフォーマルで、特に法的や学術的な文章で使われます。よく 'with' と共に用いられます（例：'at variance with'）。単なる『違う』(different from) より強い対立や不一致を示します。
