借金が返済されるまで財産を押さえておくことができる法的権利のことです。「liens」はその複数形で、複数の法的請求権を意味します。

'Liens'は法的・金融・不動産の場面で使われます。日常会話ではあまり使いません。「tax liens」「mechanic’s liens」など専門的表現があります。
