কেউ অথবা কিছু যদি অবিশ্বস্ত হয়, তবে তাদের ওপর নির্ভর করা যায় না; কারণ তারা প্রয়োজনমতো কাজ করে না বা প্রতিশ্রুতি রক্ষা করে না।

'অবিশ্বস্ত' এবং 'নির্ভরযোগ্য নয়' শিক্ষা, গাড়ি বা পরিষেবার ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হতে পারে ('অবিশ্বস্ত বন্ধু', 'অবিশ্বস্ত গাড়ি', 'অবিশ্বস্ত পরিষেবা')। খুবই আনুষ্ঠানিক নয়; দৈনন্দিন কথাবার্তায় 'বিশ্বস্ত নয়' আরও সাধারণ।
