相手に予告なしで急に何かを伝えたり知らせたりすること。たいてい驚かせるニュアンス。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

カジュアルな会話で使われる表現。突然の知らせやサプライズを伝えるときに用いる。「spring a surprise on」はサプライズを仕掛ける意味。「spring the news on」は急にニュースを伝える意味。好ましくない驚きに使うこともある。
