坐在某人或某物旁邊；也指明明可以幫助卻什麼都不做地看事情發生。

"Sit by"除了表示實際坐在旁邊，還用於形容漠不關心袖手旁觀。常見於“sit by and watch”等表達，語氣較口語化。不要和“sit beside”混淆，後者只指物理上靠近。
