Definition

ふるい分けは、ふるいや網で小さいものと大きいものを分けることです（例えば小麦粉や砂）。また、必要な情報を見つけるためにじっくり調べる意味もあります。

調理や理科では「ふるい分け」を使います。情報などを探し分ける場合は「精査」や「見直し」となります。「sifting flour」はそのまま小麦粉をふるう意味です。
