向某人敬礼或表示尊重，特别是像军队一样用手触额头的动作。也可以指以正式的方式向某人致意或致敬。

主要用于正式或军队场合；'saluted' 也可用于表示非军事场合的尊敬。常见搭配有“saluted the flag”“saluted the officer”。不要和“waved”“nodded”等普通问候搞混。
