Definition

本採用や正式な認定の前に、能力や適性を評価するための期間やその状態を表す。

主に職場や公式な場で使われ、『試用期間』『試用社員』のように用いられる。日常会話ではあまり使われない。

She is a probationary employee at the company.

彼女は会社の**試用**社員です。

The job includes a six-month probationary period.

この仕事には6ヶ月の**試用**期間があります。

His probationary status will end soon.

彼の**試用**状態はもうすぐ終わる。
