何かの端や高い場所に座ったり、立ったり、休んだりすること。よく鳥や高い所にいる人に使われる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

鳥によく使うが、高い・不安定な所にいる人にも使う（例：perch on a fence）。‘sit’より説明的。物語や描写でよく使われる。
