誰かに重要な情報を公式に、または正式に知らせること。多くはメールや通知などで行われます。

「notify」は「伝える」よりもフォーマル。ビジネスや公式シーンで多用され、「notify of」「notify about」「notify someone that」などの形で使われる。受動態『You are being notified...』は「通知されています…」など。

She is notifying her boss about the meeting.
