무언가를 다른 것 또는 사람을 본보기로 하여 설계하거나 만드는 것.

주로 수동태('is modelled on')로 사용되어 기존 것을 바탕으로 한 건물이나 시스템 등에 쓰임. 격식적 또는 중립적 언어. 'model for'(모델일 때)와 혼동하지 말 것. 미국 영어는 'modeled after'를 많이 사용함.

Our school is modelled on a famous university in England.
