"maitre" शब्द आमतौर पर फ़्रेंच से लिया गया है और खासकर उच्च स्तरीय या औपचारिक रेस्तराँ में प्रयुक्त होता है। इसे "maitre d'" भी कहते हैं। इसे साधारण वेटर से न मिलाएँ।
