特定のルールや信念、原則を人生の指針として行動すること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

個人の価値観や信念、人生哲学について語る際によく使います。「live by honesty（正直に生きる）」のように、何かを行動指針とする意味です。物理的な生存には使いません。
