Başkalarına yolu gösterip onların sizi takip etmesini sağlamak ya da bir işe ilk olarak öncülük etmek anlamında kullanılır.

Resmiyetten uzak, hem gerçek hem mecazi anlamda kullanılabilir. ‘please lead the way’ diyerek biri önden gitmesi istenir.
