Definition

氷河から分かれて海に浮かぶ大きな氷の塊。水面に出ている部分はほんの一部で、大部分は水面下に隠れています。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に理科や地理、冷たい海について話す時に使います。“tip of the iceberg”は「氷山の一角」、つまり見えているのはごく一部で多くが隠れている意味です。
