強い力で持ち上げたり引っ張ったりする動作、または何も出ないのに吐き気が続く状態（空嘔）を指します。

医療場面では主に「空嘔」に使われます。「heaves」は日常の軽い動作に使われません。スポーツや力仕事の強い繰り返し動作でも使います。
