어떤 일이나 환경에 처음 들어와 경험이 부족한 사람들.

"신참" 또는 "초보자"는 직장이나 새로운 환경에서 경험이 없는 사람을 의미함. 다소 구어적이고 옛스러운 느낌이 있음. 어린이에게 잘 쓰이지 않으며, "루키"와 비슷하지만 덜 흔하게 씀.
