難しい問題を一生懸命解決しようとすること、または誰かや何かと物理的に格闘すること。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

物理的な格闘にも精神的・感情的な葛藤にも使われます。「grappling with a problem」などのフレーズでよく出ます。ただ持つだけでなく、解決しようと奮闘する意味。
