他の人を追い越して先頭に立つこと。特にレースや競技で使われる表現。

スポーツ実況や競技の場面でよく使われ、日常会話ではあまり使いません。必ず誰かを追い越すニュアンスがあります。'pull ahead' も同様の表現です。
