주로 공식적, 심리학, 비즈니스, 사회적 맥락에서 사용된다. 'employee disengagement', 'political disengagement'과 같이 쓴다. 단순히 쉬는 것이 아니라 관심과 참여가 점점 줄어드는 느낌을 준다.
