무엇이 사실이라고 주장할 때 주로 토론이나 논쟁에서 씁니다. 또한 경쟁하거나 무엇과 힘겹게 싸운다는 뜻도 있습니다.

'주장하다'는 공식적이거나 진지한 상황에서 많이 씁니다. 'contend with'는 어려움과 맞서 싸운다는 의미가 있습니다. 'content(만족하다)'와 혼동하지 마세요.
