여러 곳에서 정보를 모아서 정리하는 것. 컴퓨터에서는 소스 코드를 실행 가능한 프로그램으로 변환하는 것을 의미한다.

‘compile a list’, ‘compile statistics’, ‘compile code’ 등에 자주 쓰이며, IT에서는 ‘컴파일하다’로 별도로 사용됨. '작성하다'나 '쓰다'와는 차이가 있다.
